How the upscaler works on my device

A super-resolution network runs in your browser through WebGPU or WebAssembly. Signed-out processing uploads no images; signing in saves images online.

When you pick an image, the page downloads the model once (about 5 MB, cached by your browser afterwards) and runs it on your graphics hardware through WebGPU. Browsers without WebGPU use WebAssembly instead, which works everywhere but is slower on large images.

Recent Chrome, Edge and Safari use WebGPU. The tool picks the fastest engine your device supports; a run that fails on WebGPU is retried on WebAssembly automatically.
